Lion King Coming to KMS

LionKing16.jpg

“Hakuna Matata means no worries!” The Disney movie, and now musical, “The Lion King Jr.”, comes to life on the Kalispell Middle School stage March 3rd, 4th and 5th. This heartfelt Disney classic, presents the story about a caring young lion named, Simba, and his quest to save his homeland from his uncle, Scar. With the help of his lion friends, a narrating monkey named Rafiki, and the hilarious Timon and Pumba, Simba goes on an adventure of a lifetime through the pride lands and jungles of Africa.

This production is under the direction of Tracy Snipstead, the choir teacher at Kalispell Middle School, and Kacie West, a teacher at Peterson Elementary.

A cast of 45 talented 6th, 7th, and 8th grade actors have been working for weeks learning music, blocking and choreography for this dynamic musical and are particularly proud of the fact that this is the first production of “The Lion King Jr.” to be performed in the state of Montana.

These students will bring to life classic songs such as “I Just Can’t Wait to be King”, “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, songs that share with the audience a sense of adventure and always fighting for what is right.

All performances are at the Kalispell Middle School Cafetorium and will be Thursday, March 3rd at 7:00pm, Friday, March 4th at 7:00 pm, and Saturday, March 5th at 3:00 pm and 7:00pm. Tickets are $6 at the door.

Students were furiously shifting from station to station as they listened to presenters talk about future possibilities for careers in their fields this morning at FHS. Sophomores got the chance to meet with local professionals for “mock interviews” later in the day helping them learn the expectations employers bring to an interview. A very positive event for students overall.

Around KPS: Hedges Elementary

HedgesShowandTell16.jpg

This morning during a stop at Hedges elementary I caught part of the show and tell in Mimi Basden’s classroom there. Josee (pictured) shared her pin collection, and powerpoint journal from a recent trip to Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. Josee managed a few photos with Darth Vader, Millhouse from The Simpsons, and a photo with Pluto. She also shared a photo from a chocolate factory trip they took in the area.
